MOVIE | Marty Supreme becomes A24’s biggest Australian box office opening – Josh Safdie’s, Marty Supreme, has stormed Australian cinemas over its five-day opening long-weekend, grossing $3.5 million at the box office ($4.1 million including preview screenings) and making it A24’s most successful film in Australian cinemas to date. The film will next release in IMAX by popular demand from Thursday 29 January, 2026, totalling 269 screens across the nation.
Holding the No. 1 ranking at the Australian box office today, the film is expected to keep generating buzz throughout awards season, already netting a Golden Globe for “Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy” for Chalamet’s performance and now nominated for nine Academy Awards, including “Best Picture”, “Best Director” and “Best Actor”.
Marty Supreme’s worldwide earnings have now grossed an impressive $120.8M USD with many major territories still to open, becoming A24’s third highest grossing title.
