MOVIE | Mozart’s Sister trailer – Sharmill Films, in partnership with Bonsai Films, has today announced the release date for Mozart’s Sister, playing in cinemas across Australia on October 31, 2024. Fresh from sold-out sessions at its Sydney Film Festival World Premiere and directed by Madeleine Hetherton-Miau (The Surgery Ship), this fascinating documentary is a ‘musical mystery’ story that explores the lost talent of “the other Mozart”, Wolfgang’s beloved sister and fellow child prodigy, Maria-Anna Mozart.
Forced to withdraw from public life because she was a woman, this stunning new investigation explores why Maria-Anna was retired and what happened to her music. Mozart’s Sister features interviews with classical musicians and experts such as Alma Deutscher, Paul Dyer AO, Dame Jane Glover DBE, Dr Eva Neumayer, Sarah Fritz and Prof. Martin Jarvis AO.
Set to open in Australian cinemas from October 31, Mozart’s Sister will also have special event Q&A screenings with live music.
