MOVIE | Moana 2 makes huge waves at the box office – Disney Animation’s epic adventure “Moana 2” continues to take the world by storm with an extraordinary opening day at the Australian Box Office, opening with $AUD 1.76 million on Thursday 28^th November, 2024.

Australian Box office milestones include: the highest Walt Disney Animation Studios opening day of all time; the biggest animated opening day post pandemic; the second highest opening day of 2024, behind only the Disney distributed Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine”.

Earlier this week Temuera Morrison (voice of Chief Tui), Rachel House (voice of Gramma Tala), David Fane (voice of Kele), Awhimai Fraser (voice of Matangi) and Opetaia Foa‘i (songwriter), among others, walked the blue carpet for the Australian Premiere at Hoyts Entertainment Quarter in Sydney on Nov. 24.

Open in Australian cinemas now, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical “Moana 2” reunites Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) and Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced. The voice cast also includes Hualālai Chung as Moni, Rose Matafeo as Loto, Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda as Simea, Nicole Scherzinger as Sina, Gerald Faitala Ramsey as Tautai Vasa, and Alan Tudyk as Heihei. Directed by Jason Hand, Dana Ledoux Miller and David G. Derrick Jr., and produced by Yvett Merino and Christina Chen, “Moana 2” features music by Grammy® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa‘i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina. Jared Bush and Miller wrote the screenplay for the film, which is executive produced by Jennifer Lee, Bush and Johnson.
