Nugget Is Dead: A Christmas Story full details – Newcomers, best friends and creatives/comic collaborators Vic Zerbst and Jenna Owen, make their debut as feature writers and associate producers for Nugget is Dead.
Nugget is Dead is a truly Aussie Christmas movie, loosely based on Vic and Jenna’s lives and families, the film which is equal parts unique and fresh whilst at the same time reminiscent of classic Aussie comedies such as The Castle and Muriel’s Wedding.
Vic and Jenna star alongside a stellar line up of Australian legends and ingenues who have been cast for the film and who the pair grew up worshipping, especially Gia Carides who plays Vic’s mum Jodie Stool and other incredible female leads including Tara Morice, Mandy McElhinney, and cameo by Kerry Armstrong. As well as Damien Garvey, Alec Snow and Steve Rodgers to name a few.
Vic and Jenna have been close friends for the last 10 years and it was whilst at University that their friendship solidified very quickly, and the pair started to explore the world of sketch comedy together. After University, the pair went on to work at SBS and spent the next five years together producing sketches, often writing three satirical sketches a week. Jenna and Vic became a viral sensation with their three minute skit for the Voice Referendum featuring rapper Briggs at a pub, with the pair playing the oblivious friends.
Fast forward to Vic and Jenna approaching Easy Tiger Productions with the ‘Nugget’ concept, and who loved it straight away stating they (Jenna and Vic) had such a clear and exciting proposition for a movie right off their one-page pitch and took the project to Stan and CBS Studios in the U.S.
