Toxic Farmland on SBS Viceland – For over 100 years, the Grostic family has farmed and raised cattle in Brighton, Michigan.
But in January 2022, the state of Michigan issued a seizure advisory for beef from the Grostic farm after testing found elevated levels of PFAS, commonly known as forever chemicals, in the meat they sell. Overnight, Jason Grostic’s farm was shut down.
Grostic filed a lawsuit against the company that released the pollutants, Tribar manufacturing, an automotive supplier.
A nine months investigation by VICE News has uncovered that Tribar has been knowingly releasing dangerous chemicals for years, and in the process endangered both farmers and consumers.
