Paul O’Grady’s Great Elephant Adventure on SBS – In his last TV project before his untimely death last year, join Paul O’Grady as he travels through Thailand and Laos to celebrate the wonderful work done by elephant conservation centres to rescue, rehabilitate and protect these most majestic, but vulnerable, of animals.
Episode One:
Paul travels to the hills surrounding Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, an area that’s home to over half the country’s 3,000 domesticated elephants. It’s also home to Thailand’s largest elephant rescue centre – the Elephant Nature Park, run by world renowned conservationist Lek Chailert.
The park provides sanctuary to 120 elephants who have escaped a hard life’s graft in the logging and tourism industries.
