Dateline on SBS – Australia’s longest-running international current affairs show Dateline continues to explore global issues, deepening our understanding of the world around us and giving a platform to distinctive voices that would otherwise be unseen and unheard.
On a deeply personal journey, Karla Grant travels to Norway to understand how their Indigenous Voice to Parliament has worked over the past three decades.
As she journeys through the Arctic Karla meets Sámi President, Silje Karine Muotka. She discovers how Norway did not seek to change its constitution to recognise Sámi people, however the parliamentary Sámi Act that established their parliament has been upheld since 1989; securing the right for Sámi to have a say on matters concerning the Sámi people.
But is their voice actually being heard in the halls of power? Karla travels through Sámi land to find the answer.
