ADAM – DAD YOU’RE THE BEST, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY
Being given the gift of new tools is probably on top of a lot of dad’s Father’s Day wish lists, but having Adam come round to help with those DIY jobs you’ve been putting off would be even better. He’s going to help viewer Steve, with a few odd jobs, like replacing a doorbell that doesn’t work and making a new wood compartment door, complete with a locking mechanism. With a bit of help from his kids, Steve’s also going to receive some special Father’s gifts that Adam, the kids and Steve can all enjoy after a hard day’s work.
CLARISSA – COCONUT CREPES (KUIH DADAR)
We all know a way to your dad’s heart this Father’s Day will be through his stomach, so why not make him a sweet treat to make the day extra special? Kuih Dadar or Coconut crepes are an Indonesian and Malaysian delicacy. The crepes wrap around a filling of sweet, shredded coconut and by using coconut milk instead of regular milk this dish is chock full of coconutty flavour. So, for Father’s Day this weekend, treat yourself.
COLIN – IRISH STEW WITH LAMB SHANKS
It’s been a cold winter, so Colin’s got another winter warmer to match the season. He’s cooking an ode to an Irish Stew, featuring delicious lamb shanks and a host of rough and rustic vegetables as well. It’s almost like a vegetable stew flavoured by lamb! Colin’s added a few ingredients that aren’t very traditional, but what it loses in its Irishness, it makes up for in its deliciousness.
GRAHAM – NATIVE RAINFOREST & ROCK ORCHIDS (BOONGALA GARDENS)
Graham recently visited the Boongala Gardens, one of the most admired Australian Native Gardens in Sydney. It’s an extensive garden of 11 acres filled with an array of sun loving natives and iconic florals, like Grevilleas, Wattle trees and more. But after running out of time to show you around all of the gardens last time, he’s back again to explore the lush rainforest and discover the thriving foliage from top to bottom in this moist and shady environment. And of course, Graham will give you tips so you can create your own rainforest at home.
CHARLIE – STAGHORN WALL ART
Not everyone has a large enough garden to plant the trees, flowers and other flora they’d like to. If you only have a small space, you need to be a bit more creative, like using walls for smaller plants. So, Charlie’s going to make a couple of easy growing frames to mount Staghorns on and create a trophy wall of plants you’ll be proud of. With frames made from old, galvanized steel fencing, this is an upcycling project designed to make use of what you might already have lying around. These frames can be moved around anywhere and with a light, modern look, will give the Staghorns centre stage, no matter where they are.
JULIET – FUNKY FABRIC COCKTAIL CABINET
Even if you don’t think you’re an artistic person, Juliet has a method for decorating furniture that is a great way to introduce colour and patterns to a room. She’s taking a cabinet that’s being wasted as garage storage and turning it into a quirky cocktail cabinet. As well as painting the cabinet a fun colour, she’s going to attach patterned fabric to the front to elevate the piece and give it a designer look. From wasting away in a garage this will become a chic, funky cocktail cabinet that’s also a piece of art.
DR HARRY – CLYDESDALE SPECTACULAR
In the heart of Queensland’s picturesque Scenic Rim, is a mecca for fans of the gentle giant of the horse world, the Clydesdale. Dr Harry’s travelled to this beautiful area to attend the Clydesdale Spectacular, a festival dedicated to “the horse that built the nation.” But this two-day extravaganza doesn’t just laud Clydesdales, but other heavy horses, as well as rare trades such as blacksmiths, wheelwrights, whip makers, and much more. But if that’s not enough, it also celebrates all things Scottish, from the people, the food and the culture. So, take the reins and experience heavy horsepower at its best.
