Exclusive – More 10 programming tidbits post Upfronts

The 10 upfronts were held on 6 October, 2022 – same day as the launch of this website, TV Central. There were some big announcements and a few surprises.

TV Central covered what was not announced at the 7 upfronts so now its time to catch up and cover the shows that were not mentioned at the 10 event.

What else is returning?

I can confirm that Mirror Mirror will return to 10 in 2023 after the success of Love/Hate this year. The next season of Five Bedrooms will air on linear, after having been broadcast on Paramount+. US dramas FBI, NCIS: Los Angeles and Law & Order: SVU will return with new seasons. I can also confirm that FBI: International will run a full season, after airing only 1 episode on broadcast, which was part of a special crossover event. Luxury Escapes will be back with a new season.

What is not returning?

Celebrity MasterChef is confirmed as not returning in 2023, with 10 focusing on MasterChef: Dessert Masters.

No Decision Made

Officially 10 is saying that the following shows are still in consideration with no final decision being made, but I have added my thoughts below:

First Dates Australia: Unlikely to return based on ratings

The Masked Singer Australia: Likely to return

Shaun Micallef’s Brain Eisteddfod: Unlikely to return based on ratings

The Amazing Race Australia: could go either way

The Secrets She Keeps – almost definitely air on broadcast to give network drama points

The Bachelorette – unlikely to return, but 10 will look at numbers for The Bachelors in January

The Traitors – as the show is still on air, 10 would be considering its options and possible tweaks to the format.

10 would make no comment on Wildlife Rescue Australia. There was also no comment on whether the network would air the second season of Blood and Treasure after its run on Paramount+ and ditto for Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol which had a single airing on broadcast, before moving to Paramount+

The Real Love Boat Australia

Interestingly 10 has no comment on season 2, which in itself might be a clue. The show was unveiled as returning in 2023 at the Upfront presentation, so for the network to not refer to that announcement and confirm what has already been announced and move to ‘no comment’ is surely a sign the network is back tracking on that announcement.
