PRISM Provides Opportunity for Important Industry Conversations – Last night, Screen Producers Australia (SPA) hosted the sixth iteration of PRISM, a thought leadership forum for Australia’s screen industry, bringing together industry leaders to discuss how the industry has and should approach Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI).
“We’re pleased to welcome PRISM back. The forum is an important opportunity for the industry to gather and address issues facing many of Australia’s screen businesses in one way or another,”
– said SPA CEO Matthew Deaner.
“We thank all the industry experts and speakers who shared their insights and experiences and hope those in attendance came away feeling empowered to utilise Gen AI or begin planning to use the new tech at their fingertips.
“As we move closer to the end of another year, PRISM was a perfect opportunity for many to reconnect with industry colleagues, sharing success stories and concerns regarding Gen AI tech. We look forward to PRISM becoming an annual event moving forward,”
– said Mr Deaner.
Hosted at Disney Studios Australia, Prism was moderated by Dr Simon Longstaff AO, Executive Director of the Ethics Centre. Simon steered three sessions on Gen AI that spotlit potential opportunities and threats the sector could face.
Speakers included SPA Council President Tracey Vieira, Chief Content Officer at Hoodlum Entertainment; Professor Angie Abdilla, Australian National University (ANU); Grainne Brunsdon, COO at Screen Australia; Composer/AI Inventor Charlie Chan; J.J.Fiasson, co-founder and CEO of Leonardo.ai; Simon Kennedy, President of the Australian Association of Voice Actors (AAVA), and Claire Pullen, Executive Director at the Australian Writers Guild (AWG).
