9News Gold Coast wins ratings year – 9News Gold Coast has secured an unbeatable lead in the local news ratings race with more than three months to go in the official 2023 OzTAM calendar.
9News Gold Coast has now won 21 weeks in the 40-week survey period, retaining its title as the city’s preferred and most trusted local news service. Victory was achieved by the weekday bulletin posting a strong Total People Share of 45.1 per cent (survey year-to-date).
The impressive win comes on the back of new presenter Paul Taylor joining Eva Milic at the start of the year.
Paul Taylor said:
“No convincing was needed for me to embrace a sea change, but feeling the Gold Coast embracing me again is pretty special. This newsroom is as talented as they come, so I’m looking forward to the well-deserved celebrations. The best part is that we’re only eight months in and it feels like we’re just getting started.”
Eva Milic said:
“What a phenomenal achievement for our small but mighty newsroom. It’s great to see our ambitious reporters, intuitive producers and seasoned ‘camos’, who are the very heartbeat of 9News Gold Coast, earn this recognition so early on in the year. We’re all fuelled to keep delivering the very best bulletins for our city, so this victory gives us more momentum to finish the year off strongly.”
9News Queensland Director of News, Amanda Paterson, said:
“Clinching the ratings year at the halfway mark, with over three months to go, speaks volumes about our exceptional news team led by Rod Power.
“They don’t just talk the talk, they walk it, going above and beyond to give Gold Coasters the news they deserve, leaving no stone unturned. This is an absolutely cracking result that we’re immensely proud of. My hat goes off to them all.”
