Number 96 returns to Australian screens via Brollie – Australian streaming platform, Brollie, is proud to announce that TV’s most notorious address, NUMBER 96, will be making its return to screens after 50 years from May 16, only on Brollie.
Launched to much fanfare in 1972, the trailblazing soap opera was given a primetime slot on 0-10 Network (the forerunner of Network 10), where it remained the #1 rated show of 1973 and 1974, taking home eight Logie Awards for its iconic, groundbreaking characters and storylines.
Set in an inner-city apartment building in Sydney, NUMBER 96 peels back the walls of suburbia to reveal a bold, unfiltered look at Australian life in the 1970s, introducing shocked audiences to taboo subjects that had never been on TV before, with lashings of sex, nudity, diversity and queerness.
Only 18 of the original 584 black and white episodes remain in existence. Brollie will be premiering all 18 black and white episodes on May 16, followed by a special bridging episode featuring TV historian Andrew Mercado and all colour episodes, with five dropping onto the platform each Friday from May 30.
Premiere Date: May 16
All Available Black and White Episodes (Eps 1-12, 31-35 and 450)
Subsequent Colour Episodes: May 30
Five Episodes Released Weekly on a Friday (Bridging Episode and Eps 585-589)
Viewers can access Brollie through the Apple and Google Play Store, through Apple TV, Google TV and Android TV, through Chromecast with Google TV and on browser at www.brollie.com.au.
