Postcards on Channel 9 and 9Now S27E19 – The Postcards team welcome guest presenter Rob Mills to the show, this Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Rob explores historic riverside Abbotsford (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country), just three kilometres from the city. He begins on the Abbotsford section of the Main Yarra Trail, which passes notable spots like the Collingwood Children’s Farm and Abbotsford Convent. Then he gets active at Northside Boulders, a cosy and community-focused climbing gym on Studley Street that was Melbourne’s first dedicated bouldering gym, originally known as The Lactic Factory. Rob wraps up with a hands-on activity at the Otao Kitchen Cooking School, joining a fun, social class to learn how to make dumplings.
Madeline Spark visits creative and cultural Bendigo (Dja Dja Wurrung Country), a regional city that has redefined itself with a UNESCO title for food and art. She first stops by the Bendigo Art Gallery at its headline exhibition, Frida Kahlo: In Her Own Image, an intimate glimpse into the celebrated painter’s life with a collection direct from Mexico, never seen before in Australia.
Next she joins the city-wide taco trail, with a stop at Percy and Percy, a popular cafe on Hargreaves Street serving up a special percy taco. Madeline ends her trip with a stay at Langley Estate, a grand homestead dating back to the early 1900s that offers boutique accommodation with old-world charm just five minutes from the heart of Bendigo.
Brodie Harper is spending the day in Berwick (Bunurong Country).
Firstly, she heads to Primary @ Pioneers Park, a popular licensed cafe that has given new life to the old Berwick Primary School building. From there Brodie heads to 81 Bistro and Taphouse, a buzzing spot full of pub vibe and live music all weekend. Her day ends at Circa 1884, a luxurious cocktail lounge where first-class mixologists create a classy experience inside the original Berwick Courthouse.Â
And this week Livinia Nixon explores Camberwell (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country), with a start at The Old Garage, a local favourite specialising in all-day dining, where every dish on its broad menu can be served completely plant-based. Then she discovers the suburb’s strong community spirit with the Camberwell Art Show, an annual exhibition run by the local Rotary Club. Livinia wraps up her visit at Haiku on Toorak Road, a diverse venue that operates as a brunch cafe by day and a Japanese izakaya by night.
