Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team as they uncover more of Victoria’s incredible food culture and hospitality, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Lauren Phillips takes us for a stroll down Swan Street in Richmond (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country).
Joined by Ghost Sign hunter Sean Reynolds, they delve into the suburb’s past, uncovering famous old signs like the Monopole Cigar sign above the Burnley Barber Shop. Later, Lauren meets the talented bakers behind Co.Bake Space, Alisha Henderson and Alice Bennett, who provide a unique pop-up and pick-up space for bakers. The day concludes at Clover, a neighbourhood bistro and wine bar with a French-leaning menu and tantalising wine list.
In Strathmore (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country), Madeline Spark showcases the magic of Melbourne’s small neighbourhood dining.
She begins at SAINT LLOYD, a cafe and restaurant serving specialty coffee and modern Italian fare, before meeting the sibling duo behind the Italian fine diner, Cichetti on Napier. Her final spot is the Edward Abbott Wine Bar, run by beloved local Ken Anderson, which offers a warm community atmosphere alongside some excellent pours and antipasto plates.
The Block’s new judge, Marty Fox, catches up with Livinia Nixon in Hampton East (Boonwurrung Country), the show’s latest location, as the hit reality series gears up for its 2023 premiere this Sunday at 7.00pm on Channel 9. They sit down to discuss all things Block over a tasty all-day breakfast menu at the brand new Third Wheel cafe. Livinia then makes her way across the road to Chilpa, the sibling restaurant to popular street eatery, La Tortilleria, and chats to Gerardo Lopez about bringing his tortilla empire bayside.
Meanwhile, Shane Delia sets out to uncover Geelong’s (Wadawurrung Country) burgeoning Asian food scene, catering to every budget. First up is Pholklore, a Vietnamese restaurant specialising in hearty bowls of pho and share plates. Next, Great Ocean Rolls, a local favourite food truck that serves up banh mi, baos and rice paper rolls bursting with flavour. For a more refined dining experience, Shane indulges in the culinary delights of BAAH LAH! Dining, where owner and chef Briand Anderson, skilfully pairs Singaporean cuisine with the finest local produce.
