Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team this week as they go for Melbourne’s best Korean and Lebanese flavours, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Shane Delia uncovers some of the best Korean food in the CBD (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) in Healeys Lane at the west end of Little Lonsdale Street, also known as Little Korea Town.
His first stop is Seoul Toast Bong, which first opened in South Korea back in 1997 and now has more than 200 stores, with its first overseas venture in Melbourne. His food journey continues at Seven Star Korean BBQ and Pocha, where he enjoys the chef’s recommendations, before a classic Korean ice-cream dessert at Scoopy.
Lauren Phillips is in Brunswick (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) uncovering the variety of food and entertainment Sydney Road has to offer.
It’s renowned for spicy Middle Eastern flavours, including the A1 Bakery, where she enjoys some fresh zaatar. Lauren then heads to Hope Street Space, a shop filled with old and new items in a nondescript warehouse, before hitting the True North Cafe for a bite.
Meanwhile, Todd Woodbridge takes viewers to Lara (Wathaurong Country). On a walk in the native garden trail that stretches along the east side of Hovells Creek, known as Kevin Hoffman Walk, he catches up with Beverly Hoffman, who created the walking trail with her husband Kevin. Todd then meets the co-owner of Roraima Nursery, Sheryl Filippe, before winding up at Millars with a signature pizza over a chat with the owner and chef, Scot Millar.
And Brodie Harper is introduced to the cast of The Rocky Horror Show at the Athenaeum Theatre (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) including Jason Donovan, who plays Frank N Furter, and Myf Warhurst (Narrator). Afterwards she heads to the Black Kite Commune, a moody bar set in an industrial-style loft, for a mouthwatering raspberry cocktail.
