Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team this week as they wine and dine their way from the city to the country, showcasing more superb destinations in Victoria at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Todd Woodbridge explores Harcourt (Dja Dja Wurrung Country) where his first stop is the Harcourt Produce and General Store, for a delicious meal and chat with the owner, Annette Larsen. At the Rodilesa Nursery he grabs a coffee from its cafe, the Nosh and Bevy, before taking a wander around the plants. Todd follows up with a tasting at Henry of Harcourt, a family-run orchard specialising in traditional cider recipes and boutique varieties.
Madeline Spark is keen to see the luxurious Oakwood Premier Melbourne hotel in Southbank (Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). But first she enjoys some scrumptious peanut butter and jelly French toast from Ciel Cafe. With a Neapolitan brew to go, she’s off to the Oakwood to check out the beautiful rooms and recreational spaces.Â
This week Kris Smith takes an hour’s drive east of Melbourne to the Yarra Valley and Coldstream (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). To start the day he visits a new-age grocery store, Getaway Market Yarra Valley, a combined food market, cafe and greenhouse that gives customers the opportunity to pick produce straight from the plant to their plate. He winds up at Coombe Yarra Valley, enjoying the revitalised historic gardens and a glass of wine at the venue’s new extended cellar door. Â
Meanwhile, 7km out of the CBD, Shane Delia is on a culinary adventure in Armadale (Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country).
First he picks some classic and freshly baked fare at Phillippa’s Bakery. After showcasing the boutiques on High Street, Shane drops by Victor Churchill, an old bank turned opulent butchery complete with bar and restaurant, for a dining experience like no other.
