Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team this week as they continue to explore the best of Victoria, including inner and outer-CBD dining spots and a backstage tour of Mary Poppins the Musical, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Brodie Harper takes a drive to Mount Martha (Boonwurrung Country) to explore The Balcombe Estuary Boardwalk, a dog-friendly bushland circuit that takes in creeks and open areas. The area is cared for by the passionate volunteer group, the Balcombe Estuary Reserves Group. After working up an appetite she heads to South Beach Project, a relaxed beachside cafe on the esplanade and catches up with co-owner David Weill.
Shane Delia checks out Kangaroo Ground (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country), exploring the food and art venues, while taking in the country air. He starts with a tour of Tread Sculptures, a private gallery and sculpture trail, then heads to Kings on Kangaroo Ground, Australia’s only post office located in a winery. Shane winds up his day at a rustic Italian restaurant, Fondata 1872.
Madeline Spark is in Chadstone’s new entertainment and dining precinct, The Social Quarter (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) with Chadstone ambassador and good friend of the show, Rebecca Judd.
They start with the roving cake trolley at the European-inspired Cityfields restaurant before exploring the great food and drink venues at The Social Quarter, including UA Brewing Co and Sardine Bar at White + Wong’s. After a scoop of pistachio gelato at Picciolina they’re off to Archie Brothers to race the dodgem cars, en route to more fun at the Hijinx Hotel, an immersive game experience housed within a quirky New York-style hotel.Â
Meanwhile, Todd Woodbridge heads backstage at Her Majesty’s Theatre to discover the magic behind Mary Poppins the Musical (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). He tours the set with leading cast members Stefanie Jones who plays Mary Poppins and Jack Chambers who plays Bert as well as resident director Liam Mcllwain. Todd winds up the day feasting on a Mexican spread at Bodega Underground on Little Bourke Street.Â
