Perth lights up in blue to celebrate Channel 9 Perth’s ’60 Years’ – Today, Thursday, June 12, Channel 9 Perth turns 60, and to celebrate this mighty milestone, great landmarks from Perth to Port Hedland will light up in Channel 9 blue from dusk.
This unique gesture acknowledges the channel’s contribution to entertaining, informing and supporting the WA community since 1965.
The sites that will light up in blue tonight include:

- Elizabeth Quay, Perth
- Fraser Avenue, Kings Park
- Great Northern Highway Interchange Bridge, Port Hedland
- His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth
- Joondalup Drive Bridge, Neerabup
- Matagarup Bridge, East Perth
- Mount Street Pedestrian Bridge, Perth
- Northbridge Tunnel, Northbridge
- QV1, Perth
- Sky Ribbon Gateway Bridge, Perth Airport
- The Bell Tower, Perth
- WACA Ground, East Perth
- Yagan Square, Perth
Nine Perth Managing Director, Clive Bingwa, is gracious for the support of all the businesses, groups and organisations who have jumped on board to help commemorate and recognise the six-decade milestone in such a unique way.

The Light Up Blue campaign will coincide with tonight’s TV special, Celebrating 60 Years, Channel 9 Perth, premiering at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Hosted by 9News Perth’s Michael Thomson and Tracy Vo, this 90-minute celebration takes viewers on a nostalgic journey through the moments, milestones and media personalities that have shaped television in Western Australia since our first broadcast in 1965.
With never-before-seen archival footage, heartfelt interviews and untold stories from behind the scenes, the landmark celebration honours a station that continues to build on connection – to the past, the present and the future.
