Expedition Everest on Channel 9 – Mount Everest’s greatest secrets are waiting to be uncovered in an unrivalled adventure when Expedition Everest premieres tomorrow night on Channel 9 and 9Now in an Australian free-to-air-first.
This documentary follows the National Geographic and Rolex Perpetual Planet Expedition as a team of geologists, glacial experts, biologists, geographers and climate scientists conduct the most extensive scientific expedition ever undertaken on the mountain.
Expedition Everest sees the notorious Khumbu Glacier mapped in stunning detail, biologists studying extreme lifeforms, and a team of Sherpas and scientists climbing straight towards the “death zone” to install the highest weather station in the world.
The groundbreaking project illuminates the threats posed by melting glaciers to the nearby Himalayan communities, and offers insights into the motivations of the team willing to risk their lives to study the impact of climate change on one of Earth’s most extreme locations.
Expedition Everest is produced by National Geographic Studios, with Katie Bauer Murdock as director and producer, Christine Weber and Vanessa Serrao as executive producers, and Katherine Chivers as associate producer.
The documentary is narrated by actor Tate Donovan (MacGyver, The Man in the High Castle).
