This Wednesday, Queensland will stop to remember the lives of two police officers murdered for doing their job.
Constable Rachel McCrow, 29, and Constable Matthew Arnold, 26, were killed after being ambushed at Wieambilla, four hours west of Brisbane, last week.
It is the largest loss of police life during a single event in Queensland in living memory.
The two officers will be farewelled in a service – with full police honours – at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondall, in front of an expected crowd of 10,000 family, friends, special guests and members of the public.
To pay tribute, 9News Queensland will host special coverage of the service, presented by Andrew Lofthouse and Alison Ariotti, from 9.30am on Channel 9 and 9Now.
The service will also be streamed onto screens at King George Square in Brisbane.
The Queensland Police Union has established a sanctioned Remembrance Fund for Constables Arnold and McCrow. Donations can be made to:
