Love on the Spectrum US on Netflix – Netflix launches Season 2 of its Emmy Award-winning Love on the Spectrum U.S., created, produced and directed by Australian production company, Northern Pictures. This follows the success of the award-winning Australian series and the Emmy Award-winning first season of the U.S. series.
The format co-created by Australia’s Karina Holden (Executive Producer) and Cian O’Clery (Director, Showrunner & Executive Producer), follows people on the autism spectrum as they navigate the world of dating and relationships.
Season Two features a unique and diverse cast of characters searching for love and follows one couple from Love on the Spectrum U.S. Season One, Abbey and David as their relationship deepens.Â
With several cast returning and a few fresh faces, Season Two represents an even wider range of people and personalities, showing just how diverse the autism spectrum really is. We see first kisses, confessions of love, and a couple take their dream vacation. Returning cast members include Abbey (24), David (24), Dani (28), Steve (64), and James (35).Â
Episode One sees Dani return as she continues her search for love. Abbey is surprised by a grand gesture from her boyfriend. James readies himself to step out on a date, and we meet Connor, who has never experienced dating.
To date, Love on the Spectrum U.S. has won three primetime Emmys (2022) and the Australian series, made by the same team, won an International Emmy.
As acknowledgement of their incredible work, Northern Pictures recently received the prestigious 2023 Human Rights Award for Media and Creative Industries by the Australian Human Rights Commission for its commitment to telling important and inclusive stories over the last decade through shows like Love on the Spectrum, Better Date Than Never, Asking For It, See What You Made Me Do, Strong Female Lead and Hardball. They have also been recognised by the Producers Guild of America for advancing the portrayal and employment of disabilities in media.
