AMC+ released the trailer and premiere date for its new series Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, the second series in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, starring Alexandra Daddario, Jack Huston, Tongayi Chirisa and Harry Hamlin, will premiere on AMC+ exclusively on January 5, 2023 with the first two episodes. Subsequent episodes will rollout weekly.
Based on Rice’s best-selling trilogy, Lives of the Mayfair Witches, the 8-episode series focuses on an intuitive young neurosurgeon, Rowan (Daddario), who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.
The AMC Studios series is executive produced by Oscar® and Emmy® Award winner Mark Johnson (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul), Showrunner Esta Spalding (Masters of Sex) and Writer Michelle Ashford (Masters of Sex) and is directed by Michael Uppendahl and Jeff Freilich.
The first series in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, is currently premiering new episodes exclusively on AMC+ each week. The Hollywood Reporter called it a “handsomely mounted small-screen iteration that aims to please fans while also attracting new viewers,” while Variety said the show “forges a powerful story of identity that will be both familiar to any Rice fan and feel much different than versions that came before.”
