The Search for the Palace Letters on ABC – The documentary tells the remarkable story of Professor Jenny Hocking, a historian who fought a landmark legal battle against the Australian Government, the National Archives and the British Royal Family in a bid to access Palace letters that revealed the story behind the dismissal of the Whitlam Government.
Running for many years, the Palace letters case resulted in a stunning High Court victory and opened the secret archives on the Palace’s role in the unprecedented dismissal of the Whitlam Government and overturned the powerful precedent of Royal Secrecy, enabling Australians to know their own history.
