Extraordinary Escapes on ABC TV – In episode four, Sandi Toksvig takes to The Midlands, and is joined by fellow comedian and author, Rosie Jones.
Sandi lays on tricycles, pony rides and even a vintage Morris Minor to give the award-winning TV star a weekend away like no other.
In Rutland, the secluded ‘Rocket Lodge’, a unique Eco build made from upcycled grain silos, features an irresistible wood-fired hot-tub, circular kitchen, and a breath-taking disco bathroom complete with giant Mirrorball.
Cloud-watching and quiet conversation is the order of the day on a strip of wild coastline in Lincolnshire. Nestled in the sand dunes, the pair kick back in a stylishly rebooted 70s beach house called ‘Sandy Feet’, where Sandi is surprised to learn from Rosie that ‘Netflix and Chill’ doesn’t mean what she thinks it does…
Their journey climaxes close to the Welsh border on The Walcot Estate, in a charming hideaway known as the Wheelwright’s Shop. This 200-year-old historical gem started life 20 miles away but was painstakingly dismantled, transported piece by piece, and lovingly rebuilt to look exactly the same.
