The ABC, CBS Studios and The Alliance (KOJO Studios x Stampede Ventures) are thrilled to announce the commission of the adventurous new comedy series Gold Diggers.
Set in the rough and tumble world of Australia’s gold rush era, the hilarious eight-part series will debut in 2023 on ABC and ABC iview.
Gold Diggers takes us back to Australia in the 1850s. As thousands of men from around the world flock to the goldfields to hit the jackpot, so do two women in search of their own jackpot: newly-rich idiots. Gert, a heavy-drinking sociopath, and Marigold, her virginal, naïve sister, are willing to do anything –or anyone — to get their fortune; but first they must suffer the lads, lice, and lechery of the Australian goldfields.
ABC Head of Comedy, Todd Abbott says “If Broad City met Deadwood on a drunken night in a gold mining theme park, it might almost resemble the action-packed, female-first, raucous retelling of history that Gold Diggers promises.”
