Better Homes and Gardens on Channel 7 – Attila and Michelle bought their dream block of land almost twenty years ago and have been hard at work on it ever since.
JOHANNA + PETE – AMAZING HOMES – WOWO WOW HOUSE
Forget beige, grey and white-on-white, vibrant colours are making a comeback and this house proves it! It may look like a conventional heritage home from the outside, but as you walk through this inner-city Melbourne home, you’re hit with a kaleidoscopic explosion of colour. With light-filled courtyards, cathedral-like windows and a kitchen that’s anything-but-boring, this home is a masterclass in how to use colour. Johanna and Pete are taking a look around.
HOW TO DEAL WITH PANE, NOT PAIN
Old houses come with lots of beautiful features…but they also come with lots of problems, too. Adam’s helping out Jess, whose home has 100-year-old sash windows that are in really bad shape. Not only are the sashes broken, but some of the glass panes are too, and getting these windows fixed professionally isn’t cheap! Luckily, with the right tools and some know-how, this is a job you can easily do yourself. Adam’s teaching Jess how.
STICKY CHINESE-SPICED COLA BEEF RIBS
Karen’s got a very sticky solution to an even stickier problem: how do you make your beef ribs tender, tasty and ‘fall-off-the bone’ good? The answer can be found in the fizzy drink section of your supermarket: cola! Seems strange, but it’s the secret ingredient you’ve been missing for the perfect beef ribs. Paired with spices like ginger, cloves, fennel seeds and star anise, plus lots of chilli, once you’ve made these beef ribs you will never look back.
CHICKEN STROGANOFF
Sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference, especially when it comes to family dinners. This week, Fast Ed’s swapping beef for chicken in his twist on a classic stroganoff. While the change may not sound ground-breaking, when you see all the smiles around the dinner table, it’ll feel like it is.
RHUBARB-BERRY DOUGHNUT PUDDING
Bread and butter pudding is pretty good…but replace the bread with doughnuts and it’s unforgettable. Combined with in-season rhubarb, custard and lots of white chocolate, it’s the perfect dessert for chilly winter evenings.
CHARLIE – REFLECTION BOWL
If you ask most landscape designers, they’ll say the missing design element from most backyards is water…and not for watering the plants with! In fact, a well-placed water feature can turn any garden into a really special space. This week, Charlie’s creating a inexpensive pond for a forgotten corner of a backyard. And it’s much simpler to do than you might think.
SHORTCUT – KING’S PARK GIANT BOAB
How do you transplant a MASSIVE boab tree from the middle of the outback to a botanic garden in inner-city Perth? With a lot of hard work and determination, plus a little help from the police, as Charlie’s about to find out!
OH-SO-SUCCULENT GARDEN WALKAROUND
Attila and Michelle bought their dream block of land almost twenty years ago and have been hard at work on it ever since. But they haven’t built a house, they’ve created a succulent lover’s paradise and its truly a site to behold. Melissa’s taking a look around and sharing lots of succulent inspiration along the way for every type of garden and climate.
LIVE LOVE LAUNDRY
Let’s face it: no one likes doing the laundry. But when your laundry space is cluttered, disorganised and impractical, it makes laundry even more of a chore. Juliet’s helping out a busy family with an even busier laundry by turning it into a pretty and practical space which also functions as a mini boot-room. The finished result feels way bigger than it really is and makes doing the laundry a whole lot more pleasant.
KEEPING DOGS WARM IN WINTER
Every dog park around Australia has them: those pet pooches that are so perfectly dressed they’d leave even the biggest of fashionistas in the dust. But while some dogs (or their owners) might dress their dogs for the bling, for others there are real reasons to dress up – especially in the wintertime. Dr Harry has all the info you need about what dog breeds feel cold the most, and what to do when temperatures start to plummet.
SHORTCUT – AS RARE AS ELEPHANT’S TEETH
When it comes to animals, there’s always something new to learn…even for Dr Harry! This week, he’s visiting Sydney Zoo to learn all about elephant’s teeth. They are so different from human teeth and incredibly fascinating, too.
