The Marc Cherry drama, which premiered in 2004, has reinvigorated the careers of Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer), Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo), Marcia Cross (Bree Van de Kamp) while introducing Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis).

Following six years in the traditional Monday 8:30pm timeslot, Seven moved the comedy-drama to the low-profile timeslot of Thursday 9:30pm in 2011. This year in 2012 Seven will premiere the final season at an 8:30pm timeslot, but is expected to push back the series to 9:30pm when official television ratings commence.

ABC Entertainment President, Paul Lee, said: “It is an iconic show; we are so proud of it,”

“I wanted to go out while the network still thought it was a viable series and while it still did well in the ratings; I wanted to go out in the classiest way possible.”

Creator Marc Cherry has revealed that the “mystery of what’s going on in the final season harkens back to the first season,” returning to “the roots of the Mary Alice mystery.”

‘Desperate Housewives’ premiered in 2004 and helped both ABC in America and Seven in Australia, as it quickly became the number one new show along with ‘Lost’.

ABC2 has certainly carved a niche with children’s programming that regularly occupies a number of the Top 20 positions on the multi channels, so the moving of the Toasted TV brand to ELEVEN comes as no surprise.

‘Toasted TV’ is hosted by Kellyn Morris and Seamus Evans (pictured).

‘Breakfast’ is rumoured to be starting at the end of February on Ten.

Seven’s Tomic and Federer clash, which saw the young Aussie lose in three sets, attracted about 1.6m. This resulted in quite a large 39.6% combined share win for the Seven Network.

Despite all eyes on Tomic, Ten’s Super Sunday Premiere scored impressive figures too. The revamped premiere of ‘Young Talent Time’ attracted 1.05m, ‘Modern Family’ scored 1.13m, the ‘New Girl’ premiere, starring Max Greenfield (pictured), got 1.28m, while the ‘Homeland’ premiere rated 1.22m. All rated high in demos too.

With all shows on Ten from 6:30-9:30pm scoring over 1.0m viewers, the network got a combined network share of 23.1%. This was ahead of Nine’s 21.1%, ABC (12%) and SBS (4.3%).

Monday night will see Hewitt Vs Djokovic take on ‘The Biggest Loser Australia’ 2012 premiere.

Who will win?
