Rose Byrne joins ‘X-Men: First Class’

Australia’s Rose Byrne is joining the cast of ‘X-Men: First Class’.
The Emmy-nominated ‘Damages’ star will join James McAvoy (‘Wanted’), Michael Fassbender (’300′), Nicholas Hoult (‘Skins’) and Kevin Bacon for the Matthew Vaughn (‘Kick-Ass’) directed ‘X-Men’ prequel.
In the film, which is set in early days of ‘X-Men’, Byrne will play the role of Dr. Moira MacTaggert, a scientist who specialises in genetic mutation and the former girlfriend of Professor Xavier (McAvoy).
Production on ‘X-Men: First Class’ is set to begin later this month in London.
In addition to Byrne’s continuing role on ‘Damages’, the 31-year old actress has also recently starred in a number films including ‘Knowing’ opposite Nicholas Cage and ‘Get Him to the Greek’ with Russell Brand.
