Australia’s Rose Byrne is joining the cast of ‘X-Men: First Class’.

The Emmy-nominated ‘Damages’ star will join James McAvoy (‘Wanted’), Michael Fassbender (’300′), Nicholas Hoult (‘Skins’) and Kevin Bacon for the Matthew Vaughn (‘Kick-Ass’) directed ‘X-Men’ prequel.

In the film, which is set in early days of ‘X-Men’, Byrne will play the role of Dr. Moira MacTaggert, a scientist who specialises in genetic mutation and the former girlfriend of Professor Xavier (McAvoy).
