Screen NSW have announced the investment in a number of screen productions, including 3 TV dramas, 12 documentaries/factuals and 1 comedy series.

The TV dramas include ‘Dance Academy’ for the ABC, which is moving into its second season and ‘Cleo’, an adult drama which tracks the Whitlam era as seen through the eyes of Cleo magazine and its young Editor, Ita Buttrose.

‘Cleo’ is from Southern Star and producers John Edwards and Imogen Banks, who are behind Ten’s upcoming drama series ‘Offspring’.

Also in development at the ABC is the dark comedy/drama, ‘The Straits’, which follows a family who are on the wrong side of the law. The series is set in Far North Queensland and the Torres Straits.

Screen NSW have also announced funding for Nine’s third ‘Underbelly’ telemovie, called ‘Blood Brother’. The drama recounts the dramatic Gilham family murders which occurred in Sydney in 1993.
