Network Ten’s One HD have picked up the broadcast rights to the 2011 Hopman Cup.
The broadcaster will take over the reigns from the ABC, who have broadcast the mixed team tennis tournament for the past 15 years.
“We are delighted to partner up with the newest player in Australian tennis being the Ten Network,” said tournament director, Paul McNamee. “Our viewers will no doubt enjoy the fresh perspective of our telecast.”
The news comes along with the announcement of an impressive line up of players, including Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic, Ana Ivanovic, Justine Henin and Lleyton Hewitt — who are all grand slam champions.
“It’s a spectacular line up,” said McNamee. “Some of the biggest and most celebrated names in the sport will play-off for the coveted diamond-encrusted trophies in January.”
Daily sessions of the competition will screen exclusively on One HD, with 20 hours of national coverage to be broadcast on Ten’s main channel across the week.
The 23rd Hyundai Hopman Cup runs January 1-8 from Perth’s Burswood Dome.
