Nine’s digital multi-channel GO! is set to debut its first original program later this year.

The comedy series, called ‘WTF!’, is a celebrity news show from comedian Charles Firth (‘The Chaser’).

“Digital television has opened up so many new production options and we felt GO! was the perfect home for our offbeat kind of television,” said Firth in a statement.

Writer/performer Nich Richardson (‘Mr. Firth Goes To Washington’) will anchor the show and will be joined by “a team of good-looking, trusted reporters,” in sight gags such as “live crosses” and pre-recorded reports.

“We created WTF! as an opportunity to bring new, young performers to television in our peculiar version of celebrity news,” adds Firth.

Each episode of the daily bulletin will feature reports about the world of modern celebrity, while sending up serious showbiz shows like ‘E! News’ and ‘Entertainment Tonight’.

“GO! is excited to welcome Charles and his team to the network,” said Nine’s Director of Acquisitions and HD Channel, Les Sampson.

“Their Chaser style of humour and unique take on world events will be right at home on our highly successful GO! channel.”

‘WTF!’ is currently in production and is set to premiere later this year on GO!.
