NBC have tapped writers/producers Jon Kinnally and Tracy Poust to run their upcoming love anthology series ‘Love Bites’.
The comedy veterans, who ran the writer’s room during the final two seasons of ‘Will & Grace’, will take over the reigns from creator Cindy Chupack, who stepped down from the role earlier this month.
“We worked with Jon and Tracy for many years on ‘Will & Grace’ and feel they are perfect for this job on ‘Love Bites’,” said NBC president Angela Bromstad.
“Not only do they bring intelligence, passion and great experience, but they are one of the funniest writing duos working in television today. This is great news for an incredibly promising new show.”
Kinnally and Poust’s appointment to the series is part of a two-year seven-figure deal with Universal Media Studios.
The move will also re-team them with star Becki Newton, whom they worked with on ABC’s ‘Ugly Betty’.
The unusual anthology-inspired series (ala ‘Love Actually’) will feature Newton, co-stars Constance Zimmer and Greg Grunberg throughout each episode, but will also feature guest stars in stand-alone stories of modern romance.
The series marks Working Title’s first foray into television following the success of films ‘Notting Hill’, ‘Love Actually’ and ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’.
‘Love Bites’ is set to premiere mid-season on NBC.
