Hot on the heels of the release of ‘The A-Team’, there’s word of another 80′s television series is set to get the big screen treatment.
The LA Times reports that Australia’s Russell Crowe has now been attached to star in The Weinstein Company’s upcoming feature based on the 1985 drama ‘The Equalizer’.
Crowe would play Robert McCall, a vigilante crime fighter and former secret agent of an unnamed organization, which was often referred to simply as “The Agency” or “The Company”.
The role was originally made famous by Edward Woodward, who starred in the CBS drama that ran from 1985 to 1989.
The project has long been in the works, with writers signed to adapt the screenplay as early as 2007.
‘Push’ director Paul McGuinan was in talks to helm the film at one point, but more recently attached was television director David von Ancken (‘The Vampire Diaries’, ‘Califonication’, ‘Cold Case’). Theres no word on whether von Ancken is still on board.

LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of time, talent and money
available for pointless, circle-jerk Boomer era
franchise slum slop —like this
-EVEN AS
MILLIONS are suffering an d dying, 5 to 8000 US
and tens of thousands of UN personnel are STILL
‘missing’ on this, the once again ‘mysteriously
and completely overlooked’ 60th Anniversary of
the staggeringly relevant KOREAN WAR.
Can someone say “RED China sellout”?
