‘The Bounce’ axed…but “it will be back”
April 24, 2010 in News by Aaron Ryan
Channel Seven has stopped the bleeding immediately and has axed Peter Helliar fronted program, ‘The Bounce’. The show has stopped production and will not continue.
The Seven Network says the show will be back during the finals series:
Channel Seven today announced that its footy based entertainment show, The Bounce will go into a production hiatus. Head of Programming and Production, Tim Worner said; “We set out to do something fresh and something different in terms of a family friendly football show. We knew going in, it was a tall order but wanted to give it our best shot. We can’t defend the ratings – they are perfectly clear. But there are some great things happening in the show that we love. Anecdotally – from players, clubs and viewers alike – there is a great deal of warmth for the show. That’s why we’ve decided to take some time to rethink some aspects of the show and bring it back during the Finals Series. We want to thank Pete and the team who have put their heart and soul into the show – We are looking forward to the next taxi ride to The Bounce – And we are hoping that Colin Banks will not take off with the tipping money”.
A Seven Network spokesperson has told TVAUSCAST that ‘The Matty Johns Show’ is safe and will stay in production and continue to air in Sydney and Brisbane on Thursday nights at 7:30pm. Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth viewers will see ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ from this Thursday night.
This seems like a sensible short term move as the show will provide a better female lead in to ‘Cougar Town’. With ‘The Amazing Race’ due to start on Thursday night, Seven should no doubt see some ratings spike.
Expect an amendment from Seven about the moving of ‘FlashForward’ soon to a later time slot.
‘The Bounce’ was/is a co-production between Channel Seven and Rick McKenna Productions.
