James Sorensen quits ‘Neighbours’ to join army

James Sorensen is leaving Network Ten’s long-running soap ‘Neighbours’ in April to pursue “other interests aside from acting”.
Sorensen’s departure from the show was confirmed back in January, but it has now been revealed that the 23-year old is seriously considering signing up as a new army recruit.
Fellow ‘Neighbours’ star Jordan Smith, who plays newcomer Andrew Robinson, told TV Week magazine about Sorensen’s future army plans.
“He’s really serious about it. It’s just something he really wants to do,” said Smith.
“He’s been training really hard, but I wish he’d stay. He’s become a really good mate. I’ve told him he’s going to get shot on his first day, but he’s adamant he wants to go!”
In true soap tradition, Sorensen’s depature from the soap won’t spell the end for his character Declan Napier. Actor Erin Mullally has been cast to take over role of the single Dad.
