Axed: ‘Drop Dead Diva’
The Nine Network has axed the new drama series ‘Drop Dead Diva’ from its Monday night schedule.
With only one episode played in Sydney and Brisbane, none yet in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, Nine have decided to axe the show after losing by more than six percent to channel Seven in the ratings on Monday night.
The Monday 9:30 time slot is now replaced with repeats of ‘The Mentalist’ staring Australian actor Simon Baker from August 10th on Nine.
Update: Nine decide now not to axe ‘Drop Dead Diva’, leaving in Monday 9:30pm after ‘The Farmer Wants a Wife’.

What a shame. This show is very funny, and I’ve been following this show through the net. Will be watching Episode 5 next week.

When are you going to get it Nein, WE ARE SICK OF FAT PEOPLE.
We’re not interested in them, trying to be funny, or being ‘inspirational’ or ‘how they look good when naked’
They are FAT for a reason, they eat too much, and they have no willpower.
This isn’t interesting, it’s just an incredibly basic fact, upon which there’s apparently an endless supply of shows exploiting it.

This was a great show- and in response to the previous comment a great percentage of Australian’s are fat- and are persecuted for it throughout their lifetimes.
In fact genetics, plus the cultural era, both factors out of ‘fat’ people’s control play the biggest factor in their current body states.
The world is a very prejudiced place for these people. A large proportion of Australian’s- who might be your mum, brother, sister, friend etc. and people you love are the people we are talking about. This show is one of the few somewhat positive representations of themselves in the media available of people born with this phenotype- of carrying body fat more than is socially acceptable.
So it is a brave move for Nine to try this show out, and sad that it has not caught on quick enough for it to have been kept. I think given a little time it would have been very popular.
The previous comment just illustrates the prejudices, the ignorance and the hatred against “fat people”- AKA some members of the average Australian’s friends and family, and the self hatred that is promoted within them.
The previous comment illustrates the need for a show like this a thousand times over.

WE ARE SICK OF THIN PEOPLE
WE ARE SICK OF RICH PEOPLE
WE ARE SICK OF ALL THE “ASPIRATIONAL” STEREOTYPICAL TV
TV Series “Shameless”, “Skins”, and “Drop Dead Diva” and even “Big Bang Theory” (however patronising in some ways or misrepresented) are all examples of tv series that give us insight into an alternative viewpoint, a minority viewpoint, and the identities of people generally often ignored as the subject media, tv, and movies.
People who aren’t rich, white, thin, “Cool” or in any way “mainstream”..
These show are refreshing- they stop the complete focus on a single version of acceptable culture, a single cultural viewpoint- one that has been played out over and over again..and is frankly getting boring…
I was thinking to myself..thankgod for Monday night viewing on nine..it’s something a bit different from networks just replaying the same old reliable but boring tv shows and repeats of tv shows.. and the topic being virtually a similar set of people all the time- in terms of social status, class, wealth, etc. etc.
I will miss this show.

An incredibly basic fact is that ‘hmmm’ is an offensive jerk and must have not been loved as a child, the simple fact is that people with horrile views like this, are missing important things in their life that enable them to grow up and develop in a mature manner.
I suggest that this person has a good hard look at themselves before they dare critise others again, I am positive that this person has alot more things they need to work on than a person who is overwieght.
Will miss the show greatly.

This was the best show on Telly!
Why don’t they forfill one season of a show, Instead of sucking us in for 6 weeks and pulling the show off air.
Sick Of WIN!

Finally a show that alot of real women can relate to. I think it’s a shame if it definately gets axed… when do you ever see a Plus Size young and pretty woman on tv? Never. Everytime they portray a larger figured woman they are either middle aged, made to look extremely un-attractive or just made fun of. It’s refreshing to see a REAL woman on tv.
